Remarks
From Wilson (2014, p. 96): “Subcircular shell. Pedicle valve nearly flat or slightly convex; brachial valve convex. To 25mm.”
From Carlton Brett and Gordon Barid: “Originally described as Orthis vanuxemi by Hall in 1857, recombined into Rhipidomella vanuxemi by Ellison in 1965.; This medium sized circular orthid is common in shallow calcareous facies of the Eastern Americas Realm from the Eifelian Onondaga-Columbus faunas, it recurs abundantly in the Hamilton fauna and persists in appropriate facies, commonly with small rugose corals, atrypids, phacopid trilobites (Elredgeops-Stereolasma biofacies of Brett et al. 2007), and other taxa regarded as low turbidity , low sedimentation calcareous mudstone (marl) facies.”
