Remarks

Originally described as Meristella barrisi by Hall in 1860.

From Wilson (2014, p. 108): “Biconvex shell, more elongate than wide. Incurved beak on pedicle valve extending over brachial valve. To 20 mm.”

From Carlton Brett and Gordon Baird: “A generally uncommon brachiopod (see comments under M. haskinsi.) Meristella species are associated and both are typical of the Tropidoleptus-Nucleospira biofacies of Brett et al. (2007) and neither is found in offshore moderately to strongly dysoxic facies. Probably fixosessile (pedically attached).”
