Remarks
Originally described as Strophodonta concava by Hall in 1857. Recombined as Megastrophia concava by Shimer and Shrock in 1944.
From Wilson (2014, p. 99): “Very large shell. Pedicle valve very common, with sharply crenulated striae, commonly with 1-2 finer lines between major striae. To 70mm.”
From Carlton Brett and Gordon Baird: “One of the largest common brachiopods. An Eastern Americas Realm taxon it is typical of high diversity calcareous facies from the Eifelian Onondaga-Columbus formations to the Tully Formation.”
