Remarks
Originally described as Delthyris sculptilis by Hall in 1843. Recombined as Spirifera sculptilis by Hall in 1867.
From Wilson (2014, p. 112): “Medium-sized, strongly biconvex, semielliptical to subtriangular shell, with extended hinge line and distinct sinus and fold. Plications sharply angular with zigzag growth lines. To 25 mm.”
From Carlton Brett and Gordon Baird: “Megakozlowskiella, long known as Delthyris, is relatively rare, distinctive of high diversity brachiopod associations in carbonate rich facies throughout New York and Pennsylvania and extending into the mid-continent. It is clearly an EAR taxon and likely descended from M.raricosta found in the Onondaga-Columbus-Jeffersonville.”
