Remarks
Originally described as Strophomena arctostriata by Hall in 1843. Recombined as Streptorhynchus chemungensis arctostriata by Hall in 1867. Recombined as Orthothetes chemungensis arctostriata by Hall and Clarke in 1892. Recombined as Schuchertella arctostriata by Griesemer in 1965. Recombined as Eoschuchertella arctostriata by Linsley in 1994. Recombined as Floweria arctostriata by Stigall Rode in 2005.
From Wilson (2014, p. 100): “Shell nearly flat, with sides approximately perpendicular to hinge line, which is equal to or greater than width of shell body. Surface with closely arranged striae. To 10-30 mm.”
From Carlton Brett and Gordon Baird: A very generalized form that occurs from nearshore sandstones to offshore medium to dark shales; it is less common in calcareous facies.
