Remarks
Originally described as Terebratula planirostra by Hall in 1860. Recombined as Cryptonella planirostra by Hall in 1863.
From Wilson (2014, p. 119): “Shell with very convex valves, somewhat truncated at margin opposite the hinge, giving a vaguely pentagonal outline. To 20mm.”
From Carl Brett: A rare brachiopod, found mainly in the lower Tully fauna of NY; Also reported from the lower Mahanatango “first Terebratula Zone” of Pennsylvania and the lower Plum Brook Shale of north central Ohio.
